Nonprofit development staff comparing eTapestry alternatives and moving donor records to a new CRM

eTapestry alternatives: 8 donor platforms to compare in 2026

Quick answer: Blackbaud still sells and supports eTapestry, and its pricing is quoted rather than published. The eight eTapestry alternatives worth comparing are DonorDock, Bloomerang, Little Green Light, DonorPerfect, Neon CRM, Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT, Virtuous, and Givebutter.

How we compared: We looked at each platform's published pricing and platform fees, how pricing changes as your database grows, whether email and texting are built in, and the migration support it offers. Last reviewed November 2026.

Teams usually start looking for eTapestry alternatives when something changes. The development team grows, a renewal quote arrives, or staff want email, texting, and online giving in the same place as their donor records.

eTapestry has served nonprofits for a long time, and plenty of organizations are well served by it. This guide is for the teams weighing a move, whether that is to another Blackbaud product or somewhere else.

Is Blackbaud retiring eTapestry?

No. As of November 2026, Blackbaud has not announced an end-of-life date for eTapestry, and it is still sold and supported.

  • It is still on sale. The Blackbaud eTapestry product page is live, and Blackbaud describes it as "entry-level software with exceptional fundraising features."
  • It is still maintained. Blackbaud's eTapestry General Features Guide was last updated in July 2026 for eTapestry.
  • Pricing is quote-based. The "Ask About Pricing" button leads to Blackbaud's pricing page, which says pricing "is customized based on your organization's size, goals, and the solutions you need."
  • Blackbaud's own upgrade path is Raiser's Edge NXT. A 2024 Blackbaud conference session covered when growing eTapestry customers should consider moving to Raiser's Edge NXT, and how Blackbaud consultants support that migration.

You may see claims elsewhere that eTapestry is being phased out. We could not find anything from Blackbaud that says so, and you should not plan a move around a deadline that has not been announced.

The costs to price out before you switch

Get these four numbers in writing, from Blackbaud and from every platform you compare:

  1. The subscription. Quoted or published, against your current record count and number of users.
  2. The platform fee. The percentage taken on online gifts, separate from card processing.
  3. Growth. What happens to the price when your database or your team grows.
  4. The contract. The term length, the renewal date, and how much notice you need to give before you leave.

The eight alternatives

#1 DonorDock

Best if you want everything on one published plan

DonorDock is an all-in-one donor management platform for growing and mid-sized nonprofits. One plan covers CRM, email marketing, online giving, text messaging, and automations, with unlimited contacts, so a growing donor list never moves you into a new price tier.

The numbers you can check: DonorDock is rated 4.8 out of 5 on G2 and Capterra. Pricing is $500 per month billed annually, with 5 users and unlimited contacts included, plus a 2% platform fee on online giving. Premium onboarding is a one-time $3,800. DonorDock is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant, and white-glove migration is typically done in under a week.

For an eTapestry team, the biggest shift is having email, texting, online giving, and automations in the same place as your accounts and gift history. Pledges, moves management, and membership programs all live in the same CRM as your gifts and outreach.

Where it is not the fit: the plan includes 5 users, with more as add-ons, and DonorDock does not connect into a wider family of finance, other than Quickbooks, and grantmaking products the way Blackbaud's tools do.

  • Best for: Growing and mid-sized nonprofits that want CRM, email, texting, online giving, and automations on one published plan with unlimited contacts.
  • Not the best fit if: you need your donor database tied into other Blackbaud products, or need 20 or more user seats, where the unlimited users at Bloomerang or Little Green Light may cost less.

#2 Bloomerang

Best for retention analytics and unlimited users

Bloomerang is a well-regarded donor management platform known for its retention analytics, and every plan comes with unlimited users, which matters for larger teams.

Bloomerang CRM starts at $125 per month billed annually, and Bloomerang Volunteer starts at $119 per month. Bloomerang Fundraising is a $40 per month add-on bought with the CRM, and The Giving Platform is quoted. Pricing is based on your constituent count, so it rises as your database grows.

Where it is not the fit: the product line is modular, so you price CRM, fundraising, and volunteer tools separately.

  • Best for: Teams that want retention-focused analytics and unlimited users on every plan.
  • Not the best fit if: you want one product and one price rather than separate apps priced by constituent count.

#3 Little Green Light

Best if you want the lowest published price

Little Green Light publishes every price: $45 per month up to 2,500 records, $90 up to 20,000, and $135 up to 50,000, then $15 per month for each additional 10,000. It is a clean, reliable donor database with unlimited users and no contracts or setup fees.

Where it is not the fit: there is no built-in texting or marketing automation, so teams that run regular email and text campaigns will end up adding tools around it.

  • Best for: Organizations with a firm budget ceiling that want fully published pricing and unlimited users.
  • Not the best fit if: you want email, texting, and automations in the same system as your donor records.

#4 DonorPerfect

Best for reporting depth

DonorPerfect has been in the category for decades and is known for deep, query-based reporting, which will feel familiar to anyone who builds queries in eTapestry. Its pricing page lists Core, Plus, and Pro plans, all quoted, and every system includes Constant Contact for email.

Where it is not the fit: every tier is quote-based, and query-driven reporting takes newer staff time to learn.

  • Best for: Teams that want deep, query-based reporting from a long-established vendor.
  • Not the best fit if: you want to see a price before a sales call, or want reporting that newer staff can pick up quickly.

#5 Neon CRM

Best if events and member portals run your calendar

Neon One's suite ties CRM, events, memberships, websites, and payments together, with member self-service portals and built-in event registration. Neon's pricing page lists Neon CRM from $99 per month and Neon Fundraise from $158 per month, so model the whole suite you would use.

Where it is not the fit: if your work is mainly donor management and email, with no ticketing or member logins, you would be paying for a suite built around those.

  • Best for: Organizations where event registration and member self-service portals are central to the work.
  • Not the best fit if: events and member portals are not central to your work, so that side of the suite would go unused.

#6 Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT

Best if you want to stay with Blackbaud

Raiser's Edge NXT is Blackbaud's larger fundraising CRM, built for organizations with bigger development teams, major gift programs, and deeper reporting needs. It is the move Blackbaud itself suggests for eTapestry customers who outgrow the platform, and Blackbaud consultants can support the migration. Pricing is not published; the product page offers "Ask About Pricing."

Where it is not the fit: it is a bigger system than eTapestry, with a bigger implementation, and pricing is quoted the same way you already know.

  • Best for: Larger development teams that want to stay inside Blackbaud and connect to its other products.
  • Not the best fit if: you are moving because you want a lighter system or published pricing.

#7 Virtuous

Best if you are ready to adopt responsive fundraising

Virtuous pairs a CRM with marketing automation and events, built around its responsive fundraising model. Pricing is quote-based, with "Request Pricing" on every tier, and its Platform tier is aimed at organizations raising up to $5 million a year.

Where it is not the fit: it is a real implementation commitment, and if quoted pricing is part of why you are looking, Virtuous works the same way.

  • Best for: Organizations ready to adopt the responsive fundraising model, with staff time to implement it.
  • Not the best fit if: you want published pricing or a lighter implementation.

#8 Givebutter

Best for campaigns, events, and peer-to-peer

Givebutter is fast to launch and strong on peer-to-peer, events, ticketing, and campaign pages. The model is donor-funded: leave optional donor tips on and the platform fee is 0%, or turn tips off and a flat 3% platform fee applies. A paid Givebutter Plus tier, priced by contact count, adds deeper CRM and engagement tools.

Where it is not the fit: the CRM underneath is lighter than eTapestry's account and journal structure. If you manage year-round donor relationships rather than campaign to campaign, you will feel the ceiling.

  • Best for: Event, peer-to-peer, and campaign-page fundraising that needs to launch fast.
  • Not the best fit if: year-round donor development is the main job, since the deeper CRM features sit in the paid Givebutter Plus tier.

How do I migrate from eTapestry to a new CRM?

eTapestry keeps donor records as accounts and gifts as journal entries, so a migration starts with two exports. You build a query or custom report, run it against all accounts, and download the results as an Excel or CSV file. Blackbaud's Query 101 guide explains that changing the data return type to journal entries pulls the actual donations.

DonorDock's help center walks through both exports field by field in its guide to migrating from eTapestry, including which account and journal fields to keep.

Five steps to move off eTapestry: check your contract, export accounts, export journal entries, map your fields, then test and go live

Whichever platform you choose, this order keeps the move manageable:

  1. Check your contract first. Find your renewal date and notice period before you book demos, so the timeline is yours.
  2. Export accounts. Keep Account Number and Account Ref in the file, so gifts can be matched to the right donor later.
  3. Export journal entries. Include fund, campaign, approach, date, and amount, and confirm your totals match eTapestry's own reports.
  4. Map your fields. Decide where each eTapestry field lands in the new system, and leave behind the ones nobody uses.
  5. Test, then go live. Import a sample first, spot-check a few donors you know well, then move the rest.

Ask every vendor the same three questions: who does the migration, how long does it take, and what does it cost?

Where DonorDock fits

DonorDock is built for growing and mid-sized nonprofits that want their fundraising in one place, on one plan that does not change as the donor list grows. For eTapestry teams, that means email, texting, online giving, and automations alongside your donor records, with a price you can see before you talk to anyone.

Our team handles the migration for you: white-glove, typically under a week, with no long-term contracts and a 90-day money-back guarantee. DonorDock is trusted by 8,100+ users, with $6B+ in gifts tracked since 2017.

For the full feature list, see the DonorDock nonprofit CRM page. The eTapestry vs DonorDock comparison puts the two platforms side by side, and our roundups of Blackbaud alternatives and Network for Good alternatives cover the same field from different starting points.

What is the best alternative to eTapestry?

It depends on what you want to change. If you want CRM, email, texting, online giving, and automations on one published plan with unlimited contacts, DonorDock is built for that, at $500 per month billed annually with a 2% platform fee on online giving. If you want to stay with Blackbaud, Raiser's Edge NXT is its larger fundraising CRM. Bloomerang, Little Green Light, DonorPerfect, Neon CRM, Virtuous, and Givebutter are also worth comparing.

How do I export my data from eTapestry?

Export two things: accounts, which hold your donors and contacts, and journal entries, which hold your gifts. In eTapestry, create a custom report under Reports, add the account or journal fields you want to keep, run it against the All Accounts query, and download the results as an Excel file. Keep Account Number and Account Ref in both files so every gift matches the right donor. DonorDock's help center has a field-by-field guide to migrating from eTapestry.

How much does eTapestry cost?

Blackbaud does not publish eTapestry pricing. The product page sends you to an "Ask About Pricing" form, and Blackbaud's pricing page says its pricing is customized based on your organization's size, goals, and the solutions you need. Ask for a written quote that covers the subscription, any fees on online gifts, the contract term, and what happens to the price as your database grows.

How long does it take to switch from eTapestry?

Most of the time goes into preparing your data, not the import itself. You export accounts and journal entries, map the fields you want to keep, and test a sample before moving everything. With DonorDock, white-glove migration is typically done in under a week, with an onboarding specialist mapping your data for you. Plan around your eTapestry renewal date and notice period so you are not paying for two systems longer than you need to.
