Why Your Emails Aren't Raising More (And What High-Performing Nonprofits Do Differently)

ou have the donor list, the CRM, and the emails going out. So why is revenue so hit or miss? It's not your list size, and a better subject line might get the open — but it won't fix what's underneath. The real problem: most nonprofits are sending emails when they should be running email campaigns. In this session, you'll learn why some organizations raise consistent funding from every send while others barely see results — and the shift that changes everything.

Here's what you'll leave with:

  • The real reason your emails aren't converting — and why it has nothing to do with list size, open rates, or writing talent
  • The #1 email mistake that quietly trains donors not to give (almost every nonprofit is making it right now)
  • The answer to "how often should we email?" — backed by data that will end the unsubscribe debate on your team for good
  • The 3 shifts high-performing nonprofits make to turn email into their most reliable revenue channel — whether your list is 300 or 30,000

Who this is for:

Executive Directors, Development Directors, Marketers, or lean fundraising teams who already have a list and a CRM — and want consistent funding growth from it, not occasional spikes once or twice a year.

Deep Dive: Boards (Actions, Projects, Asks)

Somewhere in your organization there's a spreadsheet tracking event tasks and another tracking major gift prospects. Both of those are boards, and DonorDock already has them. Join Bridgette Bitzegaio for a working session on the Action Board, Project Boards, and Ask Boards, and how work moves between all three.

Somewhere in your organization right now there's a spreadsheet tracking event tasks, another one tracking major gift prospects, and a DonorDock Action Board that only shows part of the picture.

All three of those are boards. Two of them just aren't in DonorDock yet.

DonorDock has three board types, and most teams only ever open one. In this deep dive, Bridgette Bitzegaio will walk through all three and show you how they feed each other, live inside the platform.

What we'll cover:

  • The Action Board, your daily home base. The four lanes (Nudges, Actions, Completed Today, and Snoozed), what to do with a nudge you're not ready for yet, and how to tune your settings so you only see the prompts you'll actually act on.
  • The nudges running quietly in the background. Daily 5, first gift anniversaries, spike-up gifts, second gifts, reactivated donors, donor inactivity risk, birthdays, and pledge payment reminders.
  • Project Boards for work that has steps. An event, a year-end campaign, a grant deadline, onboarding somebody new. Custom stages, due dates, priorities, and assignments that stick.
  • Ask Boards for moves management you can see. Every solicitation sits in a stage, and every stage carries a likelihood percentage, so a $50,000 ask in Cultivate shows up as $25,000 in your weighted total.
  • Separate boards for separate pipelines. Why major gifts, grants, and sponsorships each deserve their own board instead of one crowded one.
  • How the three connect. A task assigned on a Project Board and an ask sitting in your pipeline both land on the right person's Action Board on the day they're due.

Who this is for: Current DonorDock customers who open the platform and wonder what to work on first. Development directors, fundraisers, executive directors, and operations staff will each find something to change this week.

Bring your questions. We'll leave time to answer them.
