Frequently asked questions
Can DonorDock track parents, grandparents, and alumni separately?
Yes. Each person gets their own contact record and giving history, and you can group a family under a household so they receive one mailing and you see combined giving totals. Tag people with badges such as current parent, past parent, grandparent, alum, or trustee, and add class year as a contact custom field.
- Build a contact list for each group and send it its own appeal.
- Filter and report on any badge or custom field.
- Build a list of any class year for reunion and class gift appeals.
Does DonorDock replace our tuition management or student information system?
No. DonorDock is your advancement platform, and it sits next to the tuition and student systems your business office already runs, such as FACTS, Blackbaud, or Veracross. DonorDock does not connect directly to those systems. You can add new families in bulk with a spreadsheet import, and when each row carries the contact's DonorDock Donor ID or Account Number, the same import updates changed addresses and emails. Everything after that, from annual fund appeals to pledges, event tickets, receipts, and board reports, runs in DonorDock.
How much does DonorDock cost for a school?
DonorDock is one plan at $500 per month, billed annually, with every feature included and unlimited contact records, so adding alumni and parent records never changes your price. Premium onboarding is a one-time $3,800.
- A 2% platform fee applies only to online donations made through DonorDock Giving Pages, and Stripe or PayPal processing is separate.
- There are no long-term contracts.
- A 90-day money-back guarantee lets you try it with your real data.
How hard is it to move our school's donor data to DonorDock?
It's usually straightforward. As part of premium onboarding, DonorDock's team handles a white-glove migration, typically in under a week, and a team member reviews your file with you before anything is imported. Contacts and households, gifts with their campaign, appeal, and fund, pledges with balances and schedules, activities, and notes all come across, so your giving history stays intact. Step-by-step guides cover Raiser's Edge, Bloomerang, DonorPerfect, and Little Green Light, among others. For monthly donors, you can ask Stripe to run its own payment migration, and if your current processor releases the data, saved card and bank details come across, so donors don't have to re-enter them.
Can we sell gala tickets and take donations in DonorDock?
Yes. Build an event Giving Page with as many ticket types as you need, such as general admission, VIP, and table sponsor, each with its own price and quantity limit, plus a donation field for guests who want to give more. Share it by link, embed, or QR code on table cards.
Every ticket order creates or updates a contact record with the event logged on their timeline. After the night, import or add attendance for table guests and walk-ins, so you can thank everyone who came and follow up with the families who gave.
Is DonorDock a good fit for a public school education foundation?
Yes. Education foundations raise from parents, alumni, local businesses, and community members, and DonorDock keeps all of them in one place. Let donors choose which school, program, or scholarship fund their gift supports on your Giving Pages, and if you use Double the Donation's 360MatchPro, donors can look up employer matches right in the giving form.
- Record business partners as organization records alongside individual donors.
- Send year-end contribution statements to every donor at once.
- Give your board treasurer or auditor read-only access to records.
- Sync gifts to QuickBooks Online.
